The Gunners have been keeping tabs on the Spanish international since last summer as he has still failed to win his place in the first team back from Diego Lopez, and reports in Portugal are now claiming that the club are keen to bring in Benfica’s Jan Oblak over the summer.

Arsene Wenger is after a new goalie following the departure of Lukasz Fabianski and he is also interested in Colombia keeper David Ospina and Cardiff’s Scotland international David Marshall, however, it is believed that Casillas is still Wenger’s first choice.

But the 33-year-old’s journalist partner, Sara Carbonero, recently dismissed speculation that he was about to make the move for the Santiago Bernabeu, by saying: “I expect my future to be in Madrid, which is where I am now.”

Atletico Madrid are also said to be checking on Oblak, having resigned themselves to losing Thibaut Courtois, who is due to return to Chelsea and take the number one spot at Stamford Bridge.
