Reds lower demands for goalkeeper.

Check in to Spain vs Chile

Liverpool look set to lower their asking price for want-away goalkeeper Pepe Reina, with Fichajes.net claiming that Napoli are in the driving seat to sign him for around £3m.

The 31-year-old spent the 2013/14 campaign on a season-long loan deal with the Italian club, but has also been linked with Arsenal this summer, who were recently linked with a £5m bid for the player.

Still, the Reds seem to be preferring for the Spaniard to move abroad, and with Wojciech Szczesny still the number one at the Emirates Stadium it could be that Reina would also favour the move to Napoli, where he is more likely to be first choice under Rafael Benitez.

It has been clear for some time now that Reina is not in Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Anfield, with the northern Irishman moving to sign Simon Mignolet last summer, and the Merseyside giants now look ready to lower their demands to allow him to leave the club, with Napoli previously stating that the stopper was out of their price range.

Napoli could be set to receive a major injection of funds, however, as stories today suggest that Barcelona look set to sign Gonzalo Higuain for around £32m.
