Chelsea Showing Interest In Romanian International Left Back

Jose Mourinho looking towards Steaua Bucharest left back Iasmin Latovlevici.

With neither Luke Shaw or Filipe Luis yet to arrive as Chelsea players, Jose Mourinho is set to turn his attentions towards Steaua Bucharest left back Iasmin Latovlevici according to reports in the Mirror.

The 28 year-old would represent a short term solution for Mourinho and would also be likely to work out much cheaper than a move for either of the more well-known left backs that have been linked with Stamford Bridge.

Latovlevici impressed for Steaua on both occasions that the sides met in the Champions League last season and may offer a way for Chelsea to impose some austerity after the big-money signing of Cesc Fabregas and imminent deal for Diego Costa.

Latovlevici started his career with CFR Timisoara but went on to make his name with city rivals Politehnica Timisoara, before really catching the eye with his performances since arriving at Romania’s biggest club in 2010.

The Blues are on the lookout for a replacement for Ashley Cole, the experienced full back who did not sign a new deal with the Stamford Bridge club this summer.

Cole had seen Spaniard Cesar Azplicueta usurp him as the club’s first-choice left back last season, but with the former Marseille man being a naturally right-sided player it is unsurprising that Mourinho seems particularly keen to sign a new left back this summer.
