Anfield side chase Ajax left-back.

Check in to Australia vs Netherlands

Liverpool have opened talks with Ajax as the Anfield side look to beat off interest from Man United and Borussia Dortmund in the chase for left-back Daley Blind according to the Metro.

The 24 year old impressed greatly during Holland’s 5-1 thrashing of Spain, with the full-back providing the superb assist for Robin Van Persie’s diving header, and is now the subject of much speculation.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a myriad of potential left-back signings, which is perhaps no surprise given his first choice starter in the position missed most of last season.

Jose Enrique was sidelined for pretty much all of 2013/14 and though youngster John Flanagan impressed in a makeshift role it appears Rodgers is looking for a long term replacement for the Spaniard.

Flanagan may indeed be switched to his favoured spot on the right hand side of the defence, leaving Rodgers to find a suitable addition to his defence.

Liverpool have been chasing Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno but may now opt to move for Blind with a move for the £12m rated Dutchman imminent.

Blind, who’s father Danny is currently assistant to Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal, may feel the time is right to leave Amsterdam having helped Ajax to four successive Eredivisie titles.
