Chelsea have been handed a relatively comfortable start to the 2014-15 Premier League season.

Jose Mourinho’s side will face promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor in their opening match, before hosting fellow newcomers to the top flight Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues’ first tough fixture is against Everton away at the end of August, and they also face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in September.

October is perhaps the west Londoners’ toughest match of the season – they face both Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as Crystal Palace away.

With the addition of new signings Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, as well as the return of Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid, and any other acquisitions made in the summer transfer market, Mourinho will feel confident of competing on all fronts for major honours in 2014-15.

Last term, the Blues finished third behind Manchester City and Liverpool, but owner Roman Abramovich will have loftier goals this coming season.
