Reports in Spain are suggesting that Barcelona are looking to make a headline grabbing signing this summer to follow hot on the heels of their acquisition of Brazilian star Neymar last year.

And they have identified Reds hit man Suarez as the ideal man to join them after a stunning season for the Reds that saw him bag 31 goals.

He ended the campaign as the joint-top goalscorer in Europe as the Merseysiders challenged Manchester City and Chelsea for the Premier League title.

Suarez had seemingly been desperate to leave the club last summer, but Brendan Rodgers battled to keep hold of him. Arsenal made a big offer to bring him on board, but Rodgers fended off all interest and tied him down to a new contract in December which runs until 2018.

However, Mundo Deportivo report there is a £68m release clause in that contract, which has alerted Barca and rivals Real Madrid to the possibility of completing a deal.

Barca are looking to rebuild their squad following a poor showing last term, and have already snapped up Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic and Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Marc-Andre her Stegen.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have a long standing interest in signing Suarez and will finally put a concrete offer on the table to ensure they keep Barcelona at bay.
