Earlier on today, we told you that Barcelona have claimed that talks with the striker were at an ‘advanced stage,’ but reports are now suggesting that Barca are keen to take advantage of the Reds’ interest in Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez in order to drive Suarez’s price down.

With Alexis Sanchez valued between €25-30m, Barcelona would be looking to pay another €35-40m to Liverpool in order to bring the controversial star to the Nou Camp.

Barca know that Liverpool will not want to part with the striker, but believe landing Sanchez in return would soften the blow considerably and put the Reds in the driving seat to snap up the highly sought after star, who is also attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus.

However, just because Suarez has an asking price of €68m does’t mean that Liverpool would let him go for that amount, as they would be confident of asking for double that amount.
