Croatia and Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic looks set for a move to Vfl Wolfsburg.

Mario Mandzukic, the Bayern Munich centre forward who is believed to be a key target of both Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, looks set to stay in the Bundesliga with former club Vfl Wolfsburg according to reports from German newspaper Die Welt.

Mandzukic recently announced that he would be leaving the Allianz Arena this summer due to not fitting in with the tactical system of coach Pep Guardiola, despite maintaining an impressive goalscoring record for the German champions.

The Croatian international, who scored twice against Cameroon at the World Cup this week, originally joined Bayern from Wolfsburg after emerging as one of the stars of the Bundesliga whilst with the Volkswagen works club.

Wolfsburg have begun to show serious ambition in the past twelve months, with Mandzukic set to become the third major signing for the club after Brazil’s first choice holding midfielder Luiz Gustavo, also from Bayern, and Chelsea’s Belgian international midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

The 28 year-old had been believed to offer a cost effective alternative to primary target Mario Balotelli for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, but it would appear as though the lure of being the biggest fish at Wolfsburg seems to have attracted Mandzukic.
