Spurs midfielder eyed by Atletico.
Atletico Madrid could make an offer to sign under-performing midfielder Etienne Capoue from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to the Times.
The 25-year-old, who only signed for Spurs in a £9m move from Ligue 1 side Toulouse last summer, has struggled to settle into life in the Premier League, and could be set for a quick exit from the club before the start of next season.
Capoue had been linked with Atletico last year prior to his eventual switch to Tottenham, and it seems that manager Diego Simeone is still keen to get his hands on the player as he looks to rebuild his squad this summer.
With a number of key players looking likely to leave the Vicente Calderon, Atletico will also hope to be busy in terms of bringing in new faces, and Capoue could be a useful addition in midfield if the likes of Tiago and Koke end up moving elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the Frenchman is likely to be one of many cleared out by new Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, who will be looking to revamp a squad that had a disappointing season in 2013/14, finishing in sixth place despite major investments in new players after the big-money sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
