North Londoners Tottenham are willing to battle it out with Manchester United for the signing of 20-year old Dutch winger Memphis Depay, who has been dubbed the new Cristiano Ronaldo, reports the Daily Express.

Depay is also an obvious target for his current national team boss Louis Van Gaal, who will take full charge at Old Trafford after the World Cup, but Spurs are unwilling to back down from a transfer fight with the English giants, despite the Dutch connection likely to be a big advantage for Man United.

Depay currently plays for Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and is believed to be preferring a move to Old Trafford if he is allowed to leave his current club anytime in the future.

Spurs though have been tracking the winger for some time, and their new boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly readying a £17 million offer to land the youngster, who netted Holland’s winning goal against Australia at the World Cup in Brazil recently.
