The agent of Galatasaray and Holland star Wesley Sneijder has told Tutto Mercato that his client is happy in Istanbul and will not be joining Manchester United this summer.

Sneijder had been linked with a move to join fellow countryman Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford once he takes up the reigns following The Netherlands’ 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign, but it now looks as though the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid star will be staying in Turkey.

Now a veteran performer, Sneijder starred with his role recycling possession and starting attacks for the Dutch in their stunning 5-1 win over Spain, whilst he also played as they edged past Australia 3-2 to qualify for the tournament’s second round.

The 30 year-old began his career with Dutch giants Ajax, emerging along with Rafael van der Vaart as one of the big hopes for the Dutch national team moving forwards, and he would go on to earn more than 100 caps for the Oranje.

Sneijder has also picked up serious honours at club level, with the Champions League title at Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho being the high point of his career to date, although his form would quickly deteriorate at the San Siro, leading to a surprise move to join Didier Drogba in Istanbul.

The Manchester United midfield is likely to be the first area of concern for van Gaal on his arrival at Old Trafford, with the players in the centre of the park having largely proven to be insufficient during last season’s disappointing campaign under David Moyes.
