Anfield star will spark tussle between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Check in to Italy vs Uruguay

Liverpool are ready to sell star striker Luis Suarez, but only for the right price. The right price in this instance appears to be £100m with the Anfield side confident that interest from La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid will spark a bidding war for the Uruguayan goal machine according to the Daily Mail.

The Merseyside club have apparently been bracing themselves for the possibility of losing 27 year old striker Suarez and as such were quick to snap up Southampton veteran Rickie Lambert, or so this source believes, though such a move wouldn’t appear to come near to filling the void should their star performer leave for either the Nou Camp or the Bernabeu.

Suarez signed a new £220k a week contract in recent months but the deal included a transfer release clause that is set at a massive £100m for Premier League sides but a lesser fee of £70m from prospective suitors from the continent.

Barcelona will use Chilean Alexis Sanchez as bait in pursuit of Suarez but Brendan Rodgers will only accept straight cash deals so that he re-invest such funds as he sees fit.

Liverpool will hope to keep hold of Suarez, who netted a hugely impressive 31 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season as well as finishing as the English top tier’s second highest assist maker, but if they feel they have little hope in retaining his services then a sum of £100m could be well invested to help benefit the squad overall.

However this is perhaps what Tottenham hoped to achieve when they gave in to Real Madrid’s advances for Gareth Bale last summer…
