Tottenham’s pursuit of a fresh striking option has seen Mauricio Pochettino switch his attention from Chelsea youngster Romelu Lukaku to Swansea City forward Wilfried Bony according to the Daily Mail.

The powerful 25 year old netted 25 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions in 2013/14 and is currently in Brazil on World Cup duty and is perhaps open to a move to a side competing at the higher end of the Premier League.

Pochettino will have identified the need for fresh striking additions as one of his priority areas of concern since taking over at Spurs and chairman Daniel Levy will be keen for the Argentine to sell a player or two in this regard before re-investing in a player such as Bony.

Last summer Tottenham spent upwards of £50m on bringing in Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado from AS Roma and Valencia respectively and the pair managed just six Premier League goals between them, four of which were from the penalty spot, so Pochettino would do well to sell either of the pair before presenting Swansea City with an offer for their club record signing.
