Check in to Ecuador vs France

Ecuador’s 2014 World Cup hero so far in Brazil, Enner Valencia, has received several offers including from top English clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Newcastle United, says his current club Pachuca.

The 25-year old striker has impressed immensely so far at World Cup, netting three goals in two of Ecuador’s games against Switzerland and Honduras, and Spurs’ interest in him doesn’t come as a surprise.

New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has been entrusted with a big job of taking the North Londoners into the Champions League next season, and the Argentine is plotting several changes to the squad to achieve his objective.

One of his key changes could be a potential revamp of the strike force at White Hart Lane, and Valencia’s profile and work rate fit the bill for Spurs.

With the likes of Everton and Newcastle also interested in the speedy forward, Spurs will not have it easy in the pursuit of their latest striker target.

Valencia’s current club Pachuca have confirmed several approaches for their star player and conceded that they might have to allow him to move on to a bigger club.

“Enner Valencia’s value increases every day,” the club’s vice-president was quoted by the Daily Express.

“We don’t know if he will stay, it will be hard given the offers we have received.

“The options that a great player at this level gets are to be taken into account.

“But for now he has to keep doing things right. No doubt it would hurt us to let Enner Valencia go, but we are realistic about his quality.”
