Brazil right-back Dani Alves hit back at BBC Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer following his comments that his team-mate Fred should be dropped from the starting lineup after his performances in the first two games of the World Cup.
Alves called Shearer ‘disrespectful’ for his criticism of Fred, saying that he should know better about how difficult it can be for players to play at their best under pressure in big international tournaments.
Felipe Scolari’s side have four points from their opening two games, with their main striker Fred yet to get off the mark, but Alves was quick to stand up for his colleague.
