West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea keeper Petr Cech according to the Daily Mail.

There is every chance that Czech Republic keeper Cech may be set for a summer exit from Stamford Bridge with Jose Mourinho perhaps ready to welcome in youngster Thibaut Courtois though one wonders just why the Blues star would consider a move to Upton Park?

Newcastle United and QPR are also tracking Cech but surely if the experienced custodian is to leave the west London side he has represented so excellently for ten seasons then he will move to a side competing at Champions League level.

Whilst Courtois is a quality young talent, who has shone during three seasons on loan at La Liga title holders Atletico Madrid, it is worth noting that Cech is still one of the best in the business and at 32 years of age the former Rennes man still has a great deal to offer any prospective suitor.

Even if Cech desired to remain in the English top tier one has to believe a club in the top six would take a keen interest in such an accomplished performer therefore rendering the interest of ‘lesser’ clubs somewhat meaningless.

Cech has made 470 appearances for Chelsea since his £7m move to the club back in the summer of 2004.
