The Blues will look to finally unveil Brazilian born Spanish international Diego Costa as their new star striker, with the 25 year old clearly set to be on his way back to Europe following Spain’s horrific World Cup exploits, joining Cesc Fabregas as new Jose Mourinho captures.

Costa netted 36 goals in all competitions last term but has looked very poor in Spain’s two World Cup encounters with Chile and Holland and has also received a fair amount of abuse from the Brazilian crowd, for obvious reasons.

Though not connected to the Costa deal, this source also states that Belgian youngster Romelu Lukaku, who has also had a poor World Cup thus far, will move to the Vicente Calderon on a loan deal.

Lukaku has spent the last two campaigns out on loan, to West Brom and Everton, with great success but seemingly not enough success to convince Jose Mourinho of his ability.

Mourinho is also closing on a move to bring in Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis, though Atletico Madrid are looking to hold out until the 28 year old’s €24m (£19m) release clause is triggered. The wide-man is no doubt seen as a replacement for outgoing veteran Ashley Cole.
