Check in to Italy vs Uruguay

Barcelona are confident of landing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this summer and will look to unveil their new addition after the World Cup finals.

The Nou Camp side are pushing to sell a number of members of their first team squad as Luis Enrique looks to re-shuffle his squad and whilst doing so also helping to fund the bid needed to meet the Uruguayan’s release clause.

Suarez signed a new Anfield deal last December and whilst the deal ties the striker to the club until 2018 it also included a buy-out clause that can be triggered by non-Premier League clubs with an offer of €85m (£69m) and it’s one that Barcelona will meet.

Having already banked £27m from the sale of Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea and the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Pedro, Cristian Tello, Alex Song and Dani Alves are also set to leave the Catalan club to further boost funds available to Enrique.

Suarez has already indicated his desire to join Barcelona over reported interest from Real Madrid and Enrique will look to secure the Liverpool forward to form part of a mouthwatering attack alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has promised to secure the former Ajax man this summer.

Barcelona feel the need to fork out a big sum to bring in a ‘Marquee’ sum having finished the 2013/14 trophy-less but will fund the majority of the outlay with player sales, Enrique opting for quality over quantity when it comes to assembling his playing staff for the coming season.

Suarez is arguably the deadliest finisher in world football having netted 31 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last term, the Liverpool man also finished the last campaign as the second highest assist maker to boot.

Barcelona are well aware of the marketability of the Liverpool goal machine and hope to have the player in place ahead of pre-season tours and are willing to more than meet Suarez’s current £220k a week salary to further motivate him into moving to the La Liga side.
