Check in to Italy vs Uruguay

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been backed to be a success at Real Madrid if he makes the move to the Bernabeu this summer, according to his international team-mate Diego Forlan.

The Uruguay veteran told Spanish publication AS that he regards Suarez as one of the top four players in the world at the moment alongside Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and feels he would fit in well at Madrid.

Currently on World Cup duty, Suarez fired a superb double in his side’s 2-1 win over England last week and may now be set to leave the Premier League after enjoying an excellent season with Liverpool, finishing as the country’s top scorer and winning the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards.

Barcelona are also reportedly keen on signing the 27-year-old, but with Madrid also firmly in the running after nearly signing him last summer, Forlan was asked about his thoughts on his fellow countryman’s proposed move to this season’s Champions League winners.

“(Suarez is) one of the best,” he said. “It is between him, Messi, Cristiano, Ibrahimovic. All are huge and to choose between one or the other is a matter of taste.

“He is a player who is in great physical and footballing moment and could very well play for Real Madrid.”

Uruguay face Italy in their crucial last game of Group D and Suarez and Forlan will be hoping to help their country through to the knockout stages of this year’s tournament.
