Newly promoted Queens Park Rangers have made an enquiry into the possibility of signing Toulouse full-back Serge Aurier from under the noses of Premier League rivals Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old has been a top target for the Gunners since the beginning of the year, while north London neighbours Tottenham have also shown an interest, but QPR are hoping to be able to bring him on board, though the player’s £7m asking price may prove to be too much.

Aurier had hinted that he may be on his way to Arsenal, and his impressive World Cup perfomances for the Ivory Coast have only served to boost his value.

But in recent weeks the move appears to have stalled and Arsene Wenger has been left to search out other avenues.

In the past, QPR have been no strangers to splashing the cash, having done so during their most recent campaign in the top flight, but the club are reluctant to sanction so many big deals this time around just in case it doesn’t pay off.
