Monaco striker Radamel Falcao is set to return to La Liga this summer as he prepares to join Real Madrid after the World Cup, according to Tuttosport.

The Colombian international left cross-city neighbours Atletico to join up with the principality side last summer amid much surprise from fans and journalists alike, who had tipped him to either join Real then and there or head to Premier League giants Chelsea.

However, he made the move to Monaco where he quickly got on the goal trail before injury at the beginning of the year robbed him of a spot at this year’s World Cup.

Falcao has since been working his way back to full fitness and should be raring to go in time for the new season, which has come as good news to Real Madrid who are looking to bring the striker on board as they are aware how difficult to prize Luis Suarez away from Liverpool.

The two clubs have reportedly agreed a fee for the player after representatives of both sides met with the player in Miami, where he is currently on holiday, though it is not yet known how much the fee involved will be.
