Having already brought in Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas it appears Jose Mourinho would like to further strengthen his options in the centre of the park by bringing in 24 year old schemer Kroos.

Kroos has been in long running contractual talks with his Allianz Arena employers with his demands for a significant pay-rise seemingly falling on deaf ears.

Chelsea are ready to take advantage of the situation by offering £15m for Kroos, who has just a year to run on his current contract, and the deal on the table would almost double his current £65k a week earnings.

Kroos has had an excellent season with Bayern Munich, playing a key role in the club’s Bundesliga triumph, and holds a prominent role in Joachim Low’s national team set-up and may be ready for a fresh challenge.

The five year deal on the table plus the fee offered for the player would cost Chelsea a combined fee of £47m, an outlay that will no doubt be helpfully funded by the money brought in from David Luiz’s £50m sale to PSG earlier this summer.
