In the wake of Luis Suarez’s four-month ban, manager Brendan Rodgers now knows that he needs to strengthen his side to not only be able to cope with competing in four competitions again, but to cope without their star man and the media circus that will undoubtedly follow him.

But Rodgers is keen on moving fast and wrapping up three big deals before anyone else can march in and steal their signatures for under them.

The Reds need to boost their numbers in midfield, and one of their top targets has been Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Alianz Arena and will be moved on by coach Pep Guardiola this summer.

The 22-year-old is said to be keen on making the move to Anfield, and reports are suggesting that the club will make him an offer of £95,000 per week to make that happen.

Shaqiri is currently with the Swiss national side at the World Cup, but it is believed that he is eager to agree terms with the Merseysiders and once he does the two clubs can agree on a fee, which is thought to be in the region of £15m.
