Seven shocking numbers relating to the naughty gnasher and his ban!

Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez was banned for four months and nine international games by FIFA on Thursday.

The punishment is for biting defender Giorgio Chiellini during his nation’s 1-0 win over Italy at the World Cup earlier this week.

Suarez’s punishment has divided opinion. Many think he has got off lightly, while some, including his country’s FA, claim that he is the victim of a conspiracy and witch hunt.

We have analysed the punishment using some shocking stats and figures.

66,000

In addition to his ban from all football-related activity, Suarez was ordered to pay a fine of 100,000 Swiss Francs, which is just less than £66,000.

The fine is not even a third of Suarez’s weekly wage at Liverpool and it is around £14,000 less than what former Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner was ordered to pay by UEFA for revealing sponsored underpants at Euro 2012.
