The 18-year-old is being billed as one of the most exciting young players to come out of the Netherlands in recent years, but found himself dropped from Eindhoven’s first team towards the end of the previous campaign due to rows over a new contract.

PSV chiefs have told him to hurry up a pen a new deal with the club or face a lengthy spell in the reserves, but he has hit back by demanding they let him move on instead.

Spurs have had their eye on him for months, whilst Manchester City also declared an interest in snapping him up, too and even put together a big money package to convince him to head to the Etihad. However, he is thought to favour a move to White Heart Lane instead.

A flying winger with bags of pace and tricks, he is rated at about £5million and Tottenham hope they can wrap up a transfer quickly.
