While the England side looked like a bunch of teenagers heading off to Zante for their summer holidays, their World Cup hosts Brazil gave them a little lesson in national anthem singing today…

To a man, El Selecao belted out the anthem before the Last 16 match with Chile, which was echoed by the huge fan base in the stadium.

Before their embarrassing exit, England stars muttered the anthem under their breaths, and went on to lose two matches and draw the following dead rubber verses Costa Rica.

Is the passion you put into singing the national anthem directly proportionate to the performance you give on the pitch? No. Of course not.

But it’d be nice see some effort nonetheless!
