Having already signed Rickie Lambert and Emre Can from Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, and with England international Adam Lallana set to become the club’s third summer capture, Brendan Rodgers will look to add more steel to the centre of his Anfield midfield with a move for German international Khedira.

Carlo Ancelotti is seemingly open to selling Khedira and president Florentino Perez may feel the need to cash in on the £24m rated midfielder this summer as his contract expires in a year.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United are all said to be keen on the former Stuttgart man, who missed most of last season through injury.

Khedira returned to the Real Madrid towards the end of the season, playing his part in the club’s Champions League final success over Atletico Madrid before returning to the German national team set-up at the World Cup finals.

Liverpool currently rely upon injury prone Lucas Leiva for midfield bite and could well do with a more rounded competitor to offer protection for the side’s creative talents.
