Liverpool Set Mammoth £80m Asking Price For Barcelona Target Luis Suarez

Reds set high demands for star striker.

Check in to Colombia vs Uruguay

Liverpool have reportedly told Barcelona that they will have to pay up as much as £80m to sign Luis Suarez this summer, according to the Independent.

It was thought that the Catalan giants could try their luck with getting the Uruguayan striker on the cheap in this transfer window, with the 27-year-old set to serve a four-month ban from all footballing activity until November following his bite on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini in their recent World Cup match.

This would see Suarez miss nearly half of next season, though that has not put off Barcelona, who still see the player as one of their main transfer targets to bolster their options upfront.

Still, Liverpool are determined not to let this ban knock down his transfer value, and insist he will not be leaving Anfield for less than £80m, in a deal that would put him up alongside Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as the second most expensive player of all time.

Suarez scored 31 goals in 33 games in 2013/14, and is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, despite his continued disciplinary problems leading to a long list of controversial incidents throughout his career.

Liverpool are supposedly interested in Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez, and the La Liga side will be hoping that an offer to take the Chilean winger in return can still persuade the Reds to lower their demands for Suarez.
