White Hart Lane boss prepares to raid his former St Mary’s side.

Having seen his former side sell Luke Shaw to Man United and with Adam Lallana seemingly set to join Rickie Lambert at Liverpool it appears that former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to follow suit with the newly appointed Tottenham manager taking a keen interest in two of his former charges according to the Daily Mirror.

Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren is now a £16m target that the White Hart Lane side have set their sights on, a player who can certainly act as a huge improvement on those defensive options currently in Pochettino’s Tottenham squad.

And French international Morgan Schneiderlin is another player Pochettino would like to nab and the long serving St Mary’s star has hinted he could leave the south-coast club, stating;

“Listen, I’m aware of Southampton’s situation. On a personal level the club know my position and know what I want to do. I had a good conversation with all the directors.

“I’ve been there for a long time now. We’ll see how things go but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.

“Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.”

Pochettino has a fair few defensively minded central midfielders but may feel that £20m rated Schneiderlin is better equipped for a starting berth in his Spurs XI than the likes of Sandro, Nabil Bentaleb and Etienne Capoue.
