Barca to use Liverpool target in bid for Bayern midfielder.
Barcelona look set to join a host of other top clubs in the pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos, and will offer Liverpool target Alexis Sanchez to the Bundesliga club as part of the deal, according to Fichajes.com.
This could have serious implications over Barca’s bid to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, with recent reports suggesting that the Chilean winger would be set to move to Anfield in return for the controversial Uruguayan forward.
Liverpool had been keen to sign Sanchez as a replacement for Suarez, but may now miss out as the 25-year-old will instead be offered to Bayern, who are also seemingly keen to sign a new attacking player as Kroos heads for the exit.
The unsettled German international has stalled on signing a new contract at the Allianz Arena, leading to strong interest in his signature from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid, though Barcelona are now stepping up their interest in the player.
With Cesc Fabregas leaving for Chelsea and veteran midfielder Xavi possibly set to follow him out of the Nou Camp exit, the Catalan giants are keen to sign two replacements in that area, with Ivan Rakitic already confirmed as joining the club from Sevilla.
It remains to be seen what will happen with the La Liga side’s interest in Suarez, though the lack of a player exchange deal could mean they are forced to pay as much as £80m to prise him away from the Merseyside giants.
