North London giants Arsenal are getting set to swoop for 24-year old Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero, who recently confirmed that he would be moving to Europe from Mexico, reports the Metro.

Montero starred for Ecuador at the World Cup, and also seemed to have impressed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger with his exciting displays on the left flank. The Gunners are currently in need of a speedy left-winger, and the former Villarreal man could add more bite to their attack.

Montero currently plies his trade for Mexican side Monarcas Morelia, but is itching for a move back to a top Europe league.

“The club are handling it… It’s certain that I’ll leave the (Mexican) league, but let’s see where I’ll go,” he said.

Arsenal’s fellow Premier League sides Swansea City and West Ham United are also believed to be interested in the young winger, but the Gunners would clearly hold the upper hand if they wish to sign the player. Details of any potential bid from the North Londoners are not out yet, but there definitely seems to be interest in him.

Monetero prides himself on his unbelievable pace, although questions have occasionally been raised over the consistency of his end product.
