Brazilian star Kaka has terminated his contract by mutual agreement with AC Milan ahead of a proposed switch to the MLS with a stint back in Brazil first.

In an official statement on the club’s website, recent speculation of the 32-year-old’s exit were confirmed as he now looks ahead to a move to Orlando City.

It is understood that Kaka will fly to Florida on Monday lunchtime ahead of a press conference which is scheduled for 16:00 CET on Tuesday as he prepares to play out the final years of his career in the MLS.

However, he is expected to spend the next three months on loan at boyhood club Sao Paulo, as reported by Football Italia, before joining Orlando on a permanent basis.

The Rossoneri legend performed admirably in his second stint with the club after re-joining from Real Madrid last year, but in a disappointing campaign for the Italian giants, he was unable to inspire them to greater heights.

With Milan appointing Pippo Inzaghi as their new head coach to replace Clarence Seedorf, it is expected that they will now begin to trim the squad before adding quality where possible.

As part of that process, Milan are expected to continue to lower the average age of their squad as they focus purely on domestic matters next season with a swift return to the Champions League the main objective.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have already signed Jeremy Menez from PSG this summer, and Kaka’s exit will also likely ensure that the likes of Stephan El Shaarawy and Keisuke Honda will receive additional playing time next season.
