Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is closing in on his first signing for the north London club as an £8m move for Swansea City left-back Ben Davies edges closer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 21-year-old wants a move to White Hart Lane this summer and will now be granted permission to negotiate a contract with the club as Swansea have accpeted an offer of £8m to let him leave the Welsh side.

Spurs have long been in the market for a new signing at left-back after the likes of Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Danny Rose have not managed to impress as first choice in that position in the last couple of seasons, and Davies now looks to be the club’s solution to that problem.

Davies has been a regular for Swansea for the last two seasons, and has impressed greatly with his attack-minded displays from the full-back position, getting forward to score two goals in 2013/14.

It will certainly be a blow for the Swans to lose such a quality young player, and with star striker Michu also reportedly closing in on a move to Napoli, Garry Monk’s side will be bidding farewell to two important members of their squad in quick succession.
