Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich had reportedly begun talks with Dynamo Kiev as he seeks to sign winger Andriy Yarmolenko according to the Daily Star.

The 24 year old Ukrainian had been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool last year and now Stoke City are also said to retain an interest though Abramovich may well be confident of winning the race to sign the young attacker.

Yarmolenko will seek guarantees of regular first team football and that may prove the major obstacle in this deal given just how many options Jose Mourinho has in his ever expanding Blues squad.

Mourinho can call upon Andre Schurrle, Willian, Eden Hazard, Mohamed Salah, Victor Moses, Marko Marin and Christian Atsu, to name just seven, to play in wide attacking roles and as such the Yarmolenko is right to not blindly accept a move to Stamford Bridge.

Yarmolenko has completed seven seasons in the Dynamo Kiev first team set-up, scoring a healthy 74 goals in 197 appearances but having seen rivals Shakhtar Donetsk win five successive domestic titles the speedy forward may look to locate a fresh challenge.
