Arsenal have been handed a huge transfer boost, with Colombia and Porto striker Jackson Martinez claiming that he would jump at the chance to join the Gunners.

Reports in the Daily Express have revealed that manager Arsene Wenger is desperate to bring the 27-year-old, who has scored 60 goals in 91 games for the Portuguese club, to the Emirates Stadium, and is prepared to meet the £35m buyout clause in the attacker’s contact.

Wenger has already allowed Nicklas Bendtner to leave the club, while Real Sociedad clinched the long-term future of Carlos Vela, who previously looked set to return to his former side. Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo are now the only first-team forwards still on Arsenal’s books, and the club are desperate for reinforcements.

Martinez is the latest in a long list of attacking players to be linked with a move to Arsenal, following Mario Mandzukic, Alexis Sanchez and Mario Balotelli.

Bayern Munich striker Mandzukic is keen to leave Bayern Munich and is available for around £20m. Barcelona are ready to accept bids for Sanchez, but an Arsenal move could be scuppered by Barcelona’s desire to use the Chilean as part of the deal to bring Luis Suarez to the Nou Camp. A deal to sign Balotelli has been shelved for now, with Liverpool also looking at the player.
