Liverpool’s Goalkeeper Sale Is Back On: Rafa Benitez To Get His Man

Napoli loan return likely.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is moving closer towards securing a return to Napoli, according to Tuttosport.

The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at the Italian club, starting 30 Serie A games and helping the Naples outfit win the Coppa Italia.

At present, Reina, who played in Spain’s 3-0 win over Australia at the FIFA World Cup last month, is expected to report for pre-season training with Liverpool.

Reina has two years left to run on his current contract at Anfield.

Napoli are reportedly the only club interested in Reina because other potential suitors have been put off by his expensive wages.

Another loan move to Napoli now appears to be on the cards, with the Rafael Benitez-managed side paying 50 per cent of Reina’s wages.

Tuttosport also suggest that Napoli would risk losing the deal if they tried to sign Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld.

The 25-year-old Belgium is one of a number of centre-backs that have been linked with Liverpool, as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his squad ahead of his side’s return to the Champions League.

Liverpool have already signed Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Adam Lallana this summer.
