Tottenham have rejected a £10 million offer from Italian side Napoli, for star midfielder Sandro.

Goal.com have reported that Sandro, 25, is edging closer to a White Hart Lane exit, following the criticism he received from former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood last season. However, talks are currently at an impasse, with Tottenham chiefs refusing to budge on their £20 million valuation.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is willing to match Sandro’s current wage packet, and could soon increase his offer to £12 million in an attempt to secure the deal. Sandro was hopeful of a fresh start at Spurs following Sherwood’s departure, but he could yet be tempted into a move to Serie A.

The website explains that negotiations have been complicated by both clubs interest in Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who is also a target for Arsenal.

Tottenham are hopeful that a deal can be reached with the French international, especially with the player’s former Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino now in charge at White Hart Lane, but face stiff competition both at home and abroad.

Benitez is keen to add a midfielder to his squad this summer, and has reportedly discussed personal terms with Schneiderlin’s representatives, agreeing to almost double his current salary. Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko, is supposedly another possible target for the Italians.
