Arsenal are turning their attention towards Schalke’s Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar, reports the Mirror.

The forward is approaching his 31st birthday, but has a phenomenal goalscoring record in Europe – scoring goals aplenty for Ajax and Schalke, while struggling for Real Madrid and AC Milan during spells in between.

Most recently, he came off the bench to score the winner for Holland in the World Cup Last 16, and is now being targeted by the Gunners to solve the striker crisis at the Emirates.

Arsenal have Frenchman Olivier Giroud as their spearhead forward – but with doubts raised over his big match suitability, and only Yaya Sanogo as backup – fans are crying out for striker reinforcements this summer.

They have been linked with an £8m move for QPR owned Loic Remy, while Arsene Wenger has rejected claims that a move for Mario Balotelli is imminent – but it could now prove the case that Arsenal will plump for the experienced goal-poacher instead.
