Manchester City Playmaker Set To Sign Four-Year Contract Extension

City offer Frenchman new deal.Manchester City playmaker Samir Nasri looks set to sign a four-year extension to his current contract at the Etihad Stadium, according to BBC Sport.

The 27-year-old has been a key player for the club since his £25m move from Arsenal in the summer of 2011, helping City to two Premier League titles and the Capital One Cup in his three seasons with the side.

Although Nasri has sometimes been criticised for a lack of consistency, he has slotted in well alongside the club’s other attacking players and formed part of one of the most entertaining teams in the country, particularly under Manuel Pellegrini this season.

The Frenchman was a notable absentee from his country’s World Cup squad this summer due to a perceived bad attitude, but City have been keen to see him extend his stay at the club as his current contract comes closer to expiring.

Nasri’s deal at the moment would finish at the end of next season, and it is claimed that City will now hope to tie him down for the long term with a contract running until 2019.

The Premier League champions have been linked with a move for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, but Nasri’s new contract should cement his place as a regular starter in that position.
