Southampton Determined To Prevent Departure Of Third Liverpool Transfer Target

Saints to put stop to player sales.Southampton have reportedly ruled out the exit of another Liverpool target in Dejan Lovren, who is also wanted by Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Express.

The Croatian centre-back is another of the Saints’ key players to be attracting interest from top clubs in this summer’s transfer window, with the likes of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana both recently leaving for Liverpool, while Luke Shaw has joined Manchester United.

Southampton also lost their manager Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham, and the Argentine has been linked with a raid on the St Mary’s outfit with a bid for talented stopper Lovren.

The 24-year-old could also be targeted as part of a triple raid on the south coast club by Liverpool, though it now looks as though the club will put an end to player departures for this year.

New manager Ronald Koeman will be keen to keep some of the squad that performed so well in 2013/14, as well as bringing in some of his own signings ahead of the start of next season.

Southampton have already brought in around £60m from the sales of other players, and that should be enough to help find suitable replacements and keep the team competitive in the Premier League next term.
