President congratulates US legends following heroic defeat to Belgium.
United States heroes Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey were in for a surprise on Wednesday after they received a call from the Oval Office as President Barack Obama sought out the stars to congratulate them on their efforts at the World Cup.
President Obama said the guys “did us proud” and he explained how they “captured the hearts and minds” of the country.
Jokingly, Obama told Howard; “I don’t know how you’re gonna survive the mobs when you come back”. Obama advised Howard to shave his beard for anonymity.
