AS Monaco Set Whopping £60m Asking Price For Colombian World Cup Star

Ligue 1 giants set big fee for Colombian sensation. The likes of Real Madrid will have to fork out an enormous £60m if they want to sign Colombian World Cup star James Rodriguez from Monaco this summer, according to Marca.

As pointed out by RealMadridnews.com, today’s print editions of the Spanish publication claim that Monaco have set a fee of 75 million euros (£59.4m) for the in-demand 22-year-old, who has been making all the headlines in Brazil this summer.

The former Porto man is currently the leading scorer in the competition with five goals, and he could enhance his reputation even further today as his side take on host nation and favourites Brazil.

Real Madrid have reportedly been among his main admirers after his dazzling displays for his country at the World Cup, and recent reports suggest that they could be willing to offload Argentine winger Angel Di Maria for around £40m to help fund a move.

Rodriguez only joined Monaco last summer as part of a spending spree that saw the likes of Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho also make the move to Ligue 1, but his rapid rise to stardom could see him make a quick exit from the club.

If he does move, he will be among the most expensive players of all time.
