Spurs’ new boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to lodge a £5 million bid for the 20-year-old, who is very highly rated by his current club Nottingham Forest and is destined for a bright future.

Spurs are hoping to beat off competition from fellow London club Queens Park Rangers, who have already offered £4 million for Lascelles’ services.

In a rather unexpected twist though, Lascelles is believed to want to stay put with Nottingham Forest, possibly in favour of playing more regular first team football.

A number of top Premier League clubs in Liverpool and Arsenal have also enquired about the Englishman in the past, but it seems as though he may not be an easy man to lure away from his current club.

Lascelles first broke into the Forest first team back in 2011, but after playing bit part roles for his first two seasons he was a regular feature last term last term, making 32 appearances and scoring three goals.
