Arsenal and other clubs could be on alert as Real Madrid are seemingly set to put three of their key players up for sale in a bid to raise close to £80m in transfer funds, according to Fichajes.com.
The players in question are Angel Di Maria, Sami Khedira and Alvaro Morata, all of whom have become surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu despite some strong performances in their Real Madrid careers.
Di Maria in particular was in sparkling form for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season as they won the Champions League and Copa del Rey, but with Madrid now chasing big names such as Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez, these big-name players could sacrificed.
The likes of Mesut Ozil and Gonzalo Higuain left the club last summer in big-money moves, helping Real fund their deal for Gareth Bale, who arrived for a world-record £85m fee from Tottenham Hotspur, and they are clearly adopting a similar approach to their transfer business here.
Arsenal snapped up Ozil when he became available last year, and they could benefit again as they have been strongly linked with both Khedira and Morata, whilst also showing an interest in Di Maria.
The Argentine winger is likely to be high in demand if he is allowed to leave, with Manchester United and Manchester City also interested in him.
