Real Madrid may be set to cool their interest in Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling for the time being after the Reds set a £30m asking price for the youngster, Fichajes.net reports.

The 19-year-old was a key player for Liverpool last season, establishing himself as one of the best young players in Europe after his fine displays almost guided the Merseyside giants to the Premier League title.

After notching up ten goals and five assists in all competitions, Sterling earned a call-up to England’s World Cup squad this summer, and caught the eye again with some impressive individual displays, despite his country’s early exit from the competition.

Madrid are now thought to be keeping an eye on his situation, though they may postpone a move for him until next summer to see how he progresses, with the Spanish giants now prioritising other potential targets in the wide areas.

AS Monaco winger James Rodriguez could be their main target after his superb displays for Colombia at the World Cup, which will certainly come as welcome news to Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who already faces the prospect of losing a star player as Luis Suarez edges closer to signing for Barcelona.
