Liverpool have set their sights on re-shuffling their leaky defence with the Daily Express claiming that Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has his sights set on Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand and Southampton’s Dejan Lovren.

Rodgers is keen to bring in further options to fill his side’s left-sided defensive role with last season’s first choice starter Jose Enrique missing much of the campaign through injury.

£7m rated Bertrand seems surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and may well be open to a permanent move away from the west London club after his loan spell at Aston Villa last term.

Having already brought in Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from the south-coast side Liverpool are hoping to pull of a hat-trick of Southampton signings with Rodgers lining-up a bid for no-nonsense centre-back Lovren.

The £15m rated is apparently desperate to move to the Merseyside outfit where he may well prove to be an excellent partner for equally uncompromising centre-back Martin Skrtel.

Liverpool have little problem finding the back of the net last season but they did struggle to keep it tight at the back and having brought in three summer signings already, the aforementioned Lallana and Lambert as well as German youngster Emre Can, Rodgers would do well to deal with his defensive concerns next.
