Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez and Newcastle United right-back Mathieu Debuchy according to the BBC.

Both players have impressed during their respective roles with Chile and France during the World Cup finals and will help to address ‘problem’ areas in Arsene Wenger’s first team set-up.

28 year old full-back Debuchy is thought to be valued at £10m by his St James’ Park side and will be a player Wenger looks to bring in to replace Man City bound veteran Bacary Sagna.

Former Lille man Debuchy has edged Sagna out of Didier Deschamps’ starting eleven and may well jump at the chance of a move that can offer him Champions League football.

Arsenal’s move for Sanchez is to help beef up the north London club’s options in the final third with the Nou Camp star adept at playing in both wide-attacking and central striking roles.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique appears to be in the throes of a Nou Camp squad re-shuffle with Cesc Fabregas having already joined Chelsea and veterans Carles Puyol and Victor Valdes having also left the Catalan club.

Sanchez netted 19 goals in 27 La Liga starts last term and will set Arsenal back around £25m according to this source.
