With the transfer of Liverpool’s star man and controversial striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona seemingly edging ever closer, Brendan Rodgers has been linked with what would be a shock replacement for the Uruguay – according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, AC Milan could look to sell him Mario Balotelli.
Whilst the report conceded that no official approach has been made by Rodgers’ club for Balotelli, it suggests that Anfield would be the logical destination for a player who is likely to leave AC Milan but whose prospective transfer to Arsenal now looks to be dead in the water.
Liverpool may also be one club who fancy their chances of getting performances out of the maverick Italian international, such was the extent to which Rodgers was able to coax wonderful displays out of another difficult character in Suarez.
Whether Rodgers would be willing to sacrifice so much of his club’s transfer windfall on one player, and a fairly unreliable one at that, however, is another matter entirely.
But with a move for Alexis Sanchez seemingly have been ended by the Chilean himself, Rodgers does not a whole stack of options if he wants to secure a genuinely top bracket striker for his club this summer.
