Anfield fan favourite looks set for Merseyside exit.

Liverpool are ready to sell Danish defender Daniel Agger according to the Metro.

The 29 year old is seemingly not part of Brendan Rodgers’ Anfield plans but it seems Barcelona are keen on the adaptable defender.

Agger made 23 appearances last term as he shared defensive duties with Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure, with none of the trio particularly impressive as suitable central defensive partners for Martin Skrtel.

He could be seen by Catalan giants Barcelona as a replacement for exiting veteran Carles Puyol though any move will not impact on the La Liga giants apparent interest in striker Luis Suarez.

Rodgers is ready to sell Agger to help part-finance a move for £20m rated Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.

Barcelona had shown an interest in the former Brondby man last season but it’s unknown as to whether new boss Luis Enrique will seek to make a fresh move for the committed tough tackler.

Agger moved to Liverpool in January 2006 and has racked up 232 appearances for the Premier League side.
