Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Man United flop Marouane Fellaini according to the Daily Mail.

The 26 year old moved to Old Trafford on deadline day last summer, a move that cost David Moyes a massive £27.5m but new boss Louis van Gaal is ready to offload the midfielder at a cut-price rate, with Everton said to be ready to pay £12m for their former star.

Alan Pardew may feel that Fellaini could offer his side added quality in the centre of the park and could perhaps see the powerful performer act as a type of Yohan Cabaye replacement.

The Magpies never recovered from the sale of Cabaye to PSG in January, his departure signalling a marked drop in form, and having offloaded a number of their star performers owner Mike Ashley would do well to appease the club’s fans with a prominent signing.

Yes Fellaini has failed at Man United but if the St James’ Park side can snap up the Belgian for a reduced fee then he could well prove a wise investment, especially if he is used in an attacking midfield role, and not in the holding position Moyes opted to attempt to use him in during his disastrous time in charge of Man United.
